Advanced Life Support Level 1

ARC-accredited Advanced Life Support Level 1 course

Introduction:

RuralMedEd is accredited by the Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) to deliver Advanced Life Support Level 1 (ALS1) courses. ALS1 covers the core knowledge and skills required in the 'Chain of Survival' including:
  • recognition and management of the deteriorating patient;
  • administration of the basic and advanced life support algorithms as per the ANZCOR guidelines;
  • safe and effective use of a defibrillator (AED and/or manual defibrillator);
  • effective team work and membership.
This course is delivered as a hybrid of both online learning as well as face-to-face hands-on simulation training.

Upon successful completion of the course candidates will receive a certificate valid for 4 years from the date of issue.

  • EMTs

Learning Outcomes:

  • Recognise and treat the deteriorating patient using a structured ABCDE approach.
  • Prevent cardiac arrest.
  • Deliver standardised CPR in adults.
  • Deliver safe defibrillation (AED and/or manual).
  • Become valued resuscitation team members.
