Summer Observerships

The RuralMedEd Summer Observerships are an opportunity for 1st and 2nd Year Griffith University Medical students to attend a two-week observation period at one of the following Longlook sites: Kingaroy, Warwick, Stanthorpe or Dalby.

All successful observership students will receive two weeks free student accommodation at their rural site. This is the same accommodation that our full time, 3rd and 4th year Longlook medical students live at during their longitudinal years. Students will attend their observerships placement in pairs or a small group of three depending on the rural sites capacity.

Students will be given the opportunity to be immersed in the local rural community and hospital and health services while getting to observe how the local health system operates, and seeing first hand what it would be like to be a Longlook Medical Student.

Observerships each year run for a duration of two weeks usually before and after Christmas, however specific site dates may vary.

Applications will close at 9am on the 28th of August 2024.

We will be in touch with you after that to confirm placements.
