The hospital is staffed with:
General Medicine and Surgery:
Patient admissions (2200 annually) and surgical cases (140 annually) provide hands-on experience.
Paediatrics and Women’s Health:
With a stable birth rate – 116 babies born in 2022/2023 – a family focussed midwifery group practice working seamlessly with the hospital medical staff, students will gain practical positive experience in paediatrics and obstetrics.
Aged Care and Cancer Care:
Significant exposure to aged care and cancer patients, fulfilling curriculum requirements.
Mental Health:
There is a well established community mental health service with Child and Youth Mental Health Services and Consultation Liaison for Older Persons Mental Health provided Monday to Friday.
Emergency Medicine:
High volume of emergency admissions (2700 annually) provides critical exposure, 750 of these presentations fall into Cat 1 – Cat 3.
Orthopaedics/Critical Care/Anaesthetics:
Surgical cases (140 annually) and inpatient care align with orthopaedics and critical care requirements. Students are given individual focussed surgical experience, performing supervised surgical assistant and anaesthetic tech roles.
Clinical Selective and Elective:
Flexibility to explore various specialties based on student needs and local visiting specialist availability.
General Practice:
Continuation of the existing successful GP practice program.
