Goals & Strategies
Goal 1:
Align our research to our vision and themes
- Identify research areas that are innovative and ready for growth.
- Develop a research governance framework – MOUs, registers, archives, application templates
- Design and implement a sustainable research program of national significance
Goal 2:
Develop research capacity of staff, students and rural health professionals
- Build a culture of research scholarship – dedicated time for research, journal clubs, supportive infrastructure, plan to disseminate findings at conferences and in peer reviewed journals
- Expand opportunities for medical students and medical educators to learn about and participate in research
- Recognise and reward research achievements of staff and students
- Explore recruitment strategies to enhance research – contracts, PhD scholarships
- Continue to support local health professionals engaging in research linked to our overarching themes

Facilitate collaborative research
- Build strategic collaborations with leaders in the field
- Ensure a greater multidisciplinary focus
- Support development of collaborative grants – ARC

Translate research findings into healthcare education, practice and workforce outcomes
- Explore enablers and barriers to implement change
- Tailor interventions to fit within the appropriate work settings
- Engage and communicate with relevant stakeholders to promote and facilitate the adoption of new interventions
