Year 3 Curriculum
General Medicine and Surgery
Hands-on Experience: Patient admissions (2,200 annually) and surgical cases (140 annually) provide hands-on experience.
Paediatrics and Women's Health
Practical Experience: With a stable birth rate – 116 babies born in 2022/2023 – a family-focused midwifery group practise working seamlessly with the hospital medical staff, students will gain practical positive experience in paediatrics and obstetrics.
Aged Care and Cancer Care
Curriculum Fulfillment: Significant exposure to aged care and cancer patients, fulfilling curriculum requirements.
Mental Health:
Community Mental Health Service: There is a well-established community mental health service with Child and Youth Mental Health Services and Consultation Liaison for Older Persons Mental Health provided Monday to Friday.
Year 4 Curriculum
Emergency Medicine
Critical Exposure: High volume of emergency admissions (2,700 annually) provides critical exposure, 750 of these presentations fall into Cat 1 – Cat 3.
Orthopaedics/Critical Care/Anaesthetics
Focused Surgical Experience: Surgical cases (140 annually) and inpatient care align with orthopaedics and critical care requirements. Students are given individual-focused surgical experience, performing supervised surgical assistant and anaesthetic technician roles.
Clinical Selective and Elective
Specialisation Exploration: Flexibility to explore various specialisations based on student needs and local visiting specialist availability.

Supportive GP Practice Programme: Busy and supportive GP practice programme.
