Year 3 & 4 Curriculum
In Toowoomba, the Year 3 and Year 4 curriculum is structured around a longitudinally integrated model.
The program places strong emphasis on primary specialist care and community-based healthcare, recognising that a substantial portion of clinical competencies can be achieved through extended placements with Specialists and General Practitioners. These placements allow students to follow patients across different stages of care, promoting continuity and deeper clinical understanding and facilitating close mentoring relationships with supervisors.
To ensure comprehensive exposure to the full breadth of medical practice, targeted hospital-based rotations (both public and private hospitals) are also embedded throughout the year. Together, this integrated, regional -based approach provides students in Toowoomba with a rich, immersive learning environment that reflects the realities of regional medical practice and prepares them for the diverse challenges of their future careers.
