ARC-accredited Advanced Life Support Level 1 course
Introduction:
RuralMedEd is accredited by the Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) to deliver Advanced Life Support Level 1 (ALS1) courses. ALS1 covers the core knowledge and skills required in the 'Chain of Survival' including:
- recognition and management of the deteriorating patient;
- administration of the basic and advanced life support algorithms as per the ANZCOR guidelines;
- safe and effective use of a defibrillator (AED and/or manual defibrillator);
- effective team work and membership.
This course is delivered as a hybrid of both online learning as well as face-to-face hands-on simulation training.
Upon successful completion of the course candidates will receive a certificate valid for 4 years from the date of issue.

Learning Outcomes:
- Recognise and treat the deteriorating patient using a structured ABCDE approach.
- Prevent cardiac arrest.
- Deliver standardised CPR in adults.
