It is with sadness that we share the news that Jim McConochie resigned as
Chair of Rural Med Ed on the 7th February.
Commenting on his resignation Rural Med Ed CEO Megan OShannessy said ‘Jim
has been a champion for Rural Med Ed from the very beginning – starting from
our days as RRQC and he will be missed. Jim was an excellent Chair,
inclusive, caring and always lead with a vision of doing the right thing.’
At a Board meeting on 16 February Stewart Gordon was appointed as Chair
(interim) until our AGM on 22nd June – Stewart has been Company
Secretary for 3 years and will be an extremely capable and involved Chair.
There have also been 3 recent appointments to the Rural Med Ed Board:
2 Griffith University appointees: Professor Ann Bonner (Head of School of
Nursing and Midwifery) and Mr Phillip Stork (Vice President Marketing and
Communication) following Professor Ellwood’s resignation in November 2021.
And the addition of Dr Leo Zeller, a Toowoomba based Specialist Orthopaedic
Surgeon, who brings with him a wealth of board experience and regional
specialist expertise.
