Develop research capacity of staff, students and rural health professionals
- Expand opportunities for staff and students to engage in rural health research
- Ensure focus on research capacity through recruitment policies with an eye to recruiting staff to complement and build research priority areas
- Support higher degree research students in key research priority areas

Facilitate collaborative research
- Build strategic collaborations with research leaders in rural health and education
- Partner with local health professionals to strengthen research networks
- Promote collaborative research and grants with industry and academic partners

Translate research outcomes into healthcare education, practice, and workforce outcomes
- Disseminate research findings to relevant stakeholders – local, national and international
- Assist communities in adopting cost-effective research outcomes into clinical practice and healthcare policies
- Measure the impacts of translating research outcomes into clinical practice and healthcare policy

Increase research recognition and reputation
- Develop a social media strategy to highlight the rural program, rural retention outcomes and rural research
- Focus research efforts and investments strategically to build on existing expertise
